Fear vs. Faith (Part 2): Overcoming Fear Through God’s Love

Fear vs. Faith (Part 2): Overcoming Fear Through God’s Love

Well, hey, Daily Word family members, hey, we’re back at you. Let’s get started. Father, forgive me of sin.

As I open up my mouth, Father, let every word be used to edify the believers. Let this revelatory knowledge be an investment into your body. Let them grow and be blessed by what they receive.

Let it edify them and build them up and encourage them. And if any are being challenged in any of these areas, let it strengthen them. I declare it in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Let’s continue with the question, why does the enemy want you to focus so hard on circumstances, trials, and task? And we’ve determined that one of the main regions, and we’ve covered a few, but the big reason here is because the enemy wants you to fear. Yes, that’s right, the big F word, fear.

1 John 4 and 18 says, There is no fear in love, but perfect love cast out fear, for fear has to do with punishment, and whosoever fears has not been made perfect in love. Note the word in 2Timothy 1 and 7. It says, For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and a sound mind.

I love that sound mind. Let’s look at Isaiah 26 and 3. We’re talking about a sound mind.

Watch this. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee, here it comes, because he trusteth in thee. You see, we’re talking about a sound mind.

When you have all your confidence and trust in the Lord, you’re gonna be a total peace. It works together. See, that faith, that peace, you’re trusting in God, you’re having faith in God.

So therefore, your mind is going to be sound. You’re not gonna be rattled, you’re not gonna have anxieties, you’re not gonna be in mistrust or doubt. You’re gonna have a sound mind.

You’re gonna be confident. Amen, you’re gonna be full of faith. For thou will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee because he trusts in thee.

When you trust in the Lord, you’re worshiping God or you’re thanking God, even though circumstances, trials and tests come, amen, as soon as they come, you get a bad report from the doctor or circumstances happen, you say, well, praise God, amen. God’s got this. Let me just pray and see what God wants me to do.

And that’s how you handle things. And that’s the things that the enemy doesn’t want you to do. He doesn’t want you to rely on God regardless what circumstances comes your way, regardless what trial.

The last thing he wants you to do is to trust in God. Note this. Thou will keep him in perfect peace whose mind, whose mind is stayed on thee because he trusts in thee.

Satan does not want you to trust God. Let’s go to Philippians 4 and 7. It says, And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

I am totally loving this. And the peace of God that surpasses all. Listen, it’s beyond your comprehension.

I don’t know about you, but same thing I have been in some circumstances. And we said, you know, I can’t even find worry. I can’t even find it.

In other words, you’ve stood on God and been with God and walk with God and seen God work so many miracles and do so many great things in the midst of circumstance that you can’t even find worry in you. You’ve been hit with a circumstance of this comes at you. And you really, really are not even concerned about it because you are resting in your foundation and all your hope and trust is in God.

And you’ve seen the Lord work out situation after situation that you can’t even find. And that’s the point he wants you to get to, where you don’t even find worry. There’s no anxiety in you.

But your mind is in perfect peace because you’re worshiping God and you’re praising God on a daily basis and you’re staying connected with God to the point that when circumstances, trials and tests come, they come, but hey, you say, hey, God’s got this. He’s got my back. Oh, yes, he does.

Do you realize that you have authority through the name of Jesus? Note this. Jesus sent his disciples out in Luke 10 and 17.

And the 70 returned again with joy saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us. Here it comes through thy name. Through the name of Jesus, not our name, but through the name of Jesus.

There is authority and there’s power in that name. The word of God says every knee shall bow and every tongue is going to confess whether they like it or not. And we talked about in our last lesson last week how that Satan tried to exalt his throne.

He wanted to be above the most high God. And, you know, that war broke out in heaven. It didn’t last long because in 10 and 18, he says, I’ll be a held Satan as lightning falling to the earth, lightning.

So that war didn’t take long. Like bam, how fast is lightning? Somebody say, well, why do you throw him down here?

Well, guess what? Yes, he got threw down to earth, but he didn’t send him down here and didn’t give us authority. So when you go to Luke 10 and 9, it says, behold, behold, God is wanting you to recognize, hey, behold, I have given unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

So God has given you that authority and he doesn’t want you to fall into the big F word fear because he’s allowing you to know that as you keep your mind state on him, Philippians 4 and 7, as you keep yourself in perfect peace, you’re gonna have peace which surpasses understanding. In other words, you can’t even comprehend. And matter of fact, the people around you won’t even understand.

Say, how in the world are you going to be in peace? And say, don’t you know what just happened? Yeah, yeah, but you don’t understand my God.

So you don’t understand how my God, he said he will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4 and 7. And then 26 Isaiah 3, thou will keep you in perfect peace, whose mind, whose mind. So therefore, the Lord is telling us in his word, casting down imagination, every high thing that exalted itself against the knowledge of God and bringing it to the capital where he thought to the obedience of Christ.

Why? Because the enemy is going to come and try to plant the fear word in you. That’s right.

He’s going to try to drop that f-word, f-bomb on you. Fear. He’s going to try to drop it in.

And if he can get you to take the bait, then you can get in fear, and then you advocate all of this authority that God has given you. See, he don’t want you to operate in a fearless state of mind. 1 John 4 and 18.

There is no fear in love. So when you love God with all your heart, Proverbs 3 and 5, trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to thine own understanding. Verse 6, in all that ways, acknowledge him, and he shall direct that past.

See, you’re trusting in God with all your heart. In other words, everything you got, you push to the all in. If you, people, gamblers say, I’m all in.

No, you’re all in. So therefore, when you have that all in attitude and all in mentality, there really is no space for you to have doubt because you know God, God, even though it doesn’t look like and it doesn’t appear like it, you have to remain strong and steadfast, unmovable, always abound for the work of the Lord. Amen?

You have to stand steadfast. You have to have confidence. You have to have your feet firmly planted on that rock, which is Christ Jesus.

And I love the way Luke 10 and 19 just starts. He says, Behold! And, you know, behold simply means to see or observe a thing, a person, especially a remarkable or impressive one.

Trust me, that is very, very impressive that out of all the scriptures in the world, after the Lord ejects Satan to the ground, then the next scripture, he says, Behold! I’ve given unto you authority to tread on serpents, scorpions, and over all the power is the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. You’re like Pastor KBN, wait a minute.

How are we going to do that? Simply by James 4 and 7 in it. Submit yourself therefore unto God and resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

So therefore, Jesus had to resist him. After you have fasted 40 days and the enemy is telling him, hey, you’re hungry, so why don’t you turn these rocks to bread? Jesus had to resist him and fire back with the word.

That’s right, he fired back the word. So in James 4 and 8, it tells us, hey, draw nigh unto God, and draw nigh, and he’ll draw nigh unto you. He says, clean your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

“So the Lord wants us to stand before him as righteous. So that’s why I always start with saying, Father, forgive me my sins. Well, we’re out of time.

I’ll see you on tomorrow.

David danced before the Lord with all his might.

Father gave his son Jesus for us.

What a friend.

Thank you. You will always be there for me.”

đź“– Lesson Summary: “Fear vs. Faith – The Power of Love and Peace”

These scriptures i’ve shared in this episode of our Podcasts emphasize that fear is not from God—it’s a tool of the enemy to distract, discourage, and disconnect us from divine purpose. God’s love, power, and peace are our weapons against fear. When our minds are anchored in Him, we experience a supernatural calm that overrides worry and anxiety. Faith isn’t just about belief—it’s about trust, focus, and abiding in God’s presence, where fear cannot survive.

🔑 Key Points from the Scriptures:

1. 1 John 4:18 – Love Drives Out Fear

  • Truth: Fear and love cannot coexist. God’s perfect love expels fear.

  • Lesson: When we understand and embrace how deeply God loves us, fear loses its grip.

  • Application: Grow in love, and fear will shrink. When fear rises, ask: “Am I leaning into God’s love?”

2. 2 Timothy 1:7 – God Gives Power, Love & Sound Mind

  • Truth: Fear is not from God. He gives us strength, compassion, and clarity.

  • Lesson: We’re spiritually equipped to face life boldly—not timidly.

  • Application: Reject fear by declaring God’s promises. Walk in authority with confidence and a calm mind.

3. Isaiah 26:3 – Perfect Peace Comes From a Focused Mind

  • Truth: Peace comes when we keep our minds stayed on God.

  • Lesson: Trust and mental focus on God brings emotional and spiritual peace.

  • Application: In moments of anxiety, shift your focus—pray, worship, meditate on Scripture.

4. Philippians 4:7 – Peace Beyond Understanding

  • Truth: God’s peace is not logical—it’s supernatural.

  • Lesson: Even in chaos, God’s peace can guard your heart and mind.

  • Application: Invite Jesus into your inner world. Let His peace be your emotional shield.

Fear vs. Faith (Part 2): Overcoming Fear Through God’s Love

Fear vs. Faith (Part 1): God Gives Us Authority & Power

We have the God kind of faith, come on, let’s praise Him. I tell you, God is good, and He’s worthy to be praised. I’m excited about this week.

Let’s get started. Father, forgive me of sin. As I open my mouth to speak, I ask that you speak through me.

Let the words that I speak be edified to the believers. Let us build up and encourage each one to stand by faith, trusting you and believe in your word. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen and amen.

We are continuing with the question, why does the enemy want you to focus so hard on your circumstances, trials and tests? And we know one of the main reasons because he wants you to be afraid. That’s right, the big F word, fear.

Daily Word members, wherever you are internationally, you know the enemy is going to come at you. Remember the word of God, 1 Peter 5, and he said, Satan is as a roaring lion going to and fro throughout the world, seeking who he may devour. So he’s looking for those who are in fear.

And if he can get you in fear, then you can advocate your authority and power. We know that Adam and Eve got in disobedience and look what it cost the world. As a result, Jesus had to come back and he crushed Satan.

But the simple fact is anytime we get out of obedience or get in disobedience, even if that’s not walking in faith, that’s disobedience, disobedience. So there is a blessing in obedience. So when we walk in authority that God has given us, then we have power over the enemy.

Well, look what the word explicitly states, that believers have authority over Satan primarily in Luke 10 and 19. Wherefore, Jesus said, behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy. This signifies that Christians have been given authority to overcome Satan’s power.

This is also considered the most direct reference to believers having authority over Satan in the Bible. Note this, Luke 10 and 19 indicates authority over Satan. It’s important to understand that this power is delivered from Jesus Christ, and is not meant to be interpreted as complete dominion over Satan in our own strength.

Did you get that? We are operating in strength of the Lord. The Word of God said, we are, what, more than conquerors through Him, through Jesus Christ.

Now, Ephesians 6 and 10 through 18, it speaks about the spiritual armor believers can use to resist and withstand Satan’s attack. Let’s continue. Note this, Satan and his angels were created by God.

The only problem is, they turned against God’s authority. Mm-hmm, yeah, they did. Listen, in Isaiah 14, 12 through 15, it says, How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning?

How art thou cut down to the ground, which didth weaken the nations? For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven. I will exalt my throne above the stars of God.

I will set upon the mount of the congregation in the sight of the north. I will ascend above the heights of the cloud. I will be like the most high.

Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. Now Satan’s power both in the heavenly realm and on earth is great and should not be underestimated. However, while Satan and his forces are formidable enemies, Jesus crushed Satan’s power.

Now look at Genesis 8-24, and it describes the consequences of man’s rebellion against God. After falling to temptation, humans are ashamed and foolishly attempts to hide from God. When confronted about their sins, man and woman confess.

Watch this, but both also attempted to shift the blame to one another. Adam even blamed God. In response, God issued three individual curses, which affect humanity to this day.

Mankind can no longer stay in that very good garden and is banished. Even so, God continues to provide for his creation. Thank God.

Note the word in Matthews 25 and 41. Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire. Here we go.

Prepared for the devil and his angel. This fulfills the prophecy in Genesis 3 and 15. And that states, And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, And between thy seed and her seed, And it shall bruise thy head, And thou shall bruise thy heel.

Let’s deal with Genesis 3 and 15 just a minute. You see, this is in direct response to Satan’s deception and Adam and Eve’s disobedience. God pronounces curses on each of them, as well as on all generations to follow.

You see, in previous verses, God begins to curse, put a curse on both Satan, the serpent, and on Satan. He took the serpent’s form or body. In this verse, the curse focused entirely on Satan.

God promises to make enemies of Satan and the woman. In fact, their offsprings or seed remain enemies throughout all generations. Eve’s offspring of curse includes all of humanity.

Born one generation after another to present day, both who Satan’s offspring, it’s unlikely to refer to actual biological children of the devil. Satan’s offsprings may include his fallen angels and demons. Who will follow him?

It definitely includes those humans who come to believe and practice his lies. Oh man, you see, people think this is something to play with. You see them putting signs, how they’re following Satan, and many have gotten really bold and come out to outlandish, how they’re following Satan, and you see how many actors and many entertainers are drinking blood and doing all these practices.

They don’t understand, or maybe they do, but let me tell you, God has a place for Satan and his demonic forces. That’s why the scripture said it was prepared for not only for Satan and Zima, but for all those who made a choice to follow Satan’s practices. So this is not something to joke around with.

We even know Jesus calling out the Jewish religious leaders. In John 8 and 44, he said, You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding the truth, for there is no truth in him.

When he lies, he speaks his native tongue, his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Remember, family, God cursed Satan. He has been an enemy of humanity since the beginning.

He cannot be trusted. 1 Peter 5 and 8 says, be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary, the devil, is as a roaring lion, walking about, seeking who he may devour. All right, we’re out of time.

I’ll get back with you on tomorrow. Now, speak to that mountain.

Lift your hands and say it was the blood. It was the blood.

Circumstances, Trials & Tests (Part 11)

Circumstances, Trials & Tests (Part 11)

Chapter 11: The Power of God’s Right Hand

Each new day is a gift from God. As we rejoice and give thanks, we also open our hearts to receive His Word. Today, let’s explore why the enemy targets your focus during times of testing—and how to respond with faith, not fear.

Opening Prayer:

Heavenly Father, forgive me of all sin. Let my voice be Yours today. Choose every word I speak, so it may edify and strengthen the hearts of every believer listening. In Jesus’ name, amen.

We continue with a powerful question: Why does the enemy want you to focus so hard on your circumstances, trials, and tests? It’s because of the big “F” word—Fear.

That’s right. If the enemy can get you to embrace fear, he can get you to relinquish the power and authority God has given you over him.

Remember what Jesus said in Luke 10:19 (KJV):
“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

This is your divine authority over principalities, powers, rulers of darkness, and spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12). Satan doesn’t want you to know who you are—or whose you are.

You are created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26). You were made to dominate. God gave you dominion over the earth, and that includes the authority to rule over Satan and his demonic forces.

But fear makes you abandon that authority—just like Adam did. He handed over what God gave him. Thankfully, Jesus came, gave His life, and restored what was lost.

Through Christ, the veil was torn (Matthew 27:51). We no longer wait for a priest to enter God’s presence for us. Now, we can boldly approach God’s throne:

“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” – Hebrews 4:16 (KJV)

Worship and praise are our access points. Isn’t it beautiful that we can meet with God directly?

Let’s look at Psalm 91:7 (KJV):

“A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.”

This verse is a divine promise of protection. Even as others fall around you, you are covered. God is your shield. He watches over His people. Fear is unnecessary when you walk in His wisdom and stay connected to His voice.

When the enemy sets traps, the Holy Spirit will guide you away from danger. Psalm 91 doesn’t say that bad things will never happen—it promises that God will be your refuge when they do.

This divine hedge of protection is real. I’ve seen it firsthand. Years ago, my wife and family were traveling to meet me for a concert. While driving on the freeway, someone fired a shot that shattered part of the car window. Glass exploded everywhere—but no one was injured. Not a scratch. Why? Because every morning, we prayed and declared divine protection over our family and vehicles.

This is the authority we have. We must open our mouths and speak protection over our homes, our families, and our journeys.

Psalm 23 was my brother’s favorite scripture—a Green Beret commander who faced danger often, yet returned safely. He never told us what he saw or endured in combat, but we always prayed for him. God brought him back every time. The same is true for my nephews, who served in the Air Force and Navy. God’s protection covered them.

And guess what? Even if you’re not in the military, if you’re in the army of the Lord, you’re under divine protection too.

Let’s talk about God’s right hand. In Scripture, it represents:

  • Power and strength

  • Favor and honor

  • Salvation and protection

Jesus sits at the right hand of God, affirming His authority and equality with the Father. He intercedes for us and reigns with divine power (Romans 8:34; Hebrews 1:3).

Psalm 60:5 and Isaiah 28:2 speak of the right hand as a place of deliverance and might. Genesis 48:13–18 tells how Jacob blessed Joseph’s firstborn with his right hand—signifying favor. Even the king’s bride is placed at the right hand in Psalm 45:9.

It’s a position of significance.

So when you read Psalm 91:7, and see that ten thousand may fall at your right hand, know that God is making a statement: Even in places of favor, power, and honor, He will protect you.

Let us celebrate that God’s right hand holds us. It shelters us. It shields us. You are sons and daughters of the Most High. You are under divine authority, protection, and love.

God is your refuge, your shield, your salvation. He will never leave you nor forsake you. And so, I urge you today: Never leave or forsake Him.

Conclusion:

God’s right hand is your place of protection and power. No matter what trials arise, trust that He is shielding you. Walk in faith, not fear—and live confidently under His covering.

Key Takeaways:

  • Fear causes you to forfeit the authority God gave you—don’t surrender it.

  • Luke 10:19 gives believers divine power over all the works of the enemy.

  • Psalm 91:7 assures us that even in danger, God protects His children.

  • The right hand of God symbolizes salvation, strength, and favor.

  • We must speak God’s promises aloud—declaring His protection daily.

  • Jesus, seated at God’s right hand, intercedes for you with divine authority.

Circumstances, Trials & Tests (Part 11)

Circumstances, Trials & Tests (Part 10)

Chapter 10: The Shield and the Buckler — Your Defense in the Battle

In Chapter 10, you will learn how to stand strong in faith through life’s trials. Discover how God’s Word becomes your shield and buckler—your spiritual armor in the fight against fear, doubt, and the enemy’s attacks.

It’s a blessing to be here today, and I’m excited for what we’re about to uncover in God’s Word. Let’s open in prayer. Father, forgive us of our sins. Use my mouth for Your glory. Let every word spoken edify the believers and strengthen all who hear. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Let’s continue with the question: Why does the enemy want you to focus so much on circumstances, trials, and tests?

Because he wants you to fear.

The enemy knows that fear cancels faith. If he can get you into fear, you’ve stepped out of faith—and without faith, it’s impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).

Let’s look at Psalm 91:5 (KJV):

“Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day.”

Previously, we discussed the “shield and buckler.” Let’s go deeper into that today. In biblical times, both were used as defensive tools in warfare. Spiritually, they now represent the protective power of God’s Word.

A shield was a large, broad defensive weapon used to block incoming arrows, spears, or other projectiles. It represents God’s overarching protection. The buckler, on the other hand, was a smaller, handheld shield used in close combat. It symbolizes the intimate and active use of God’s Word in personal battles.

Metaphorically, this is how we are to engage spiritually—using the Word of God as both our shield in long-range spiritual warfare and our buckler for close-quarter attacks from the enemy.

Let’s connect this with Ephesians 6:16 (KJV):

“Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”

Faith acts as our spiritual shield. It is our barrier against the devil’s schemes. The Word of God, when believed and applied, extinguishes every flaming arrow the enemy launches.

Now, look at Proverbs 2:7 (KJV):

“He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.”

God Himself is your buckler. He protects and defends those who live according to His Word.

Back to Psalm 91:4 (KJV):

“He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.”

David paints a beautiful picture here—just as a bird protects its young with its wings, God surrounds us with His truth. His Word is our shield and buckler.

Let’s revisit Psalm 91:5:

“Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day.”

The “terror by night” refers to unseen dangers—crime, spiritual attacks, or fear-inducing events that often occur under the cover of darkness. In ancient times, people feared nightfall due to wild animals or robbers, especially without the modern luxury of streetlights. Today, while we have lighting, spiritual darkness still lurks—and that’s where God’s voice leads us into safety.

Likewise, the “arrow that flies by day” refers to visible and immediate threats—accusations, betrayals, illnesses, or setbacks. Arrows can be literal or metaphorical, representing spiritual darts aimed at your peace of mind, emotional well-being, or physical health.

Have you taken any spiritual “hits” lately? You might be in a spiritual battle zone.

These arrows—spiritual attacks—are targeted. The enemy doesn’t fire blindly. He knows your weak spots and aims precisely where your mind has not yet been renewed by the Word of God (Romans 12:2).

Maybe it’s your temper, maybe offense, rebellion, fear, or emotional instability. The enemy observes these areas and attacks where your spiritual armor is thin.

Let me repeat this because it’s important: The enemy’s arrows are deliberate. He’ll use people—your boss, coworkers, spouse, even close friends—to fire them. If your mind isn’t renewed by God’s Word in those vulnerable areas, the arrow hits its mark.

Understand this truth: Satan seldom attacks you where you are strong. He aims where you are still struggling. That’s why we must run to God daily and clothe ourselves in His Word.

According to Ephesians 6:12 (KJV):

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world…”

This is spiritual warfare. And when we do battle using our God-given spiritual weapons, His Word promises that the enemy’s arrows will not reach us.

God has given us a covenant—a promise of protection. Isaiah 54:17 (KJV) assures us:

“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper…”

So when the enemy comes with trials, tests, or temptations, remember your covenant. Don’t be afraid of the arrows that fly by day, nor the terrors by night.

God is your shield. He is your buckler. Trust in His Word, and He will defend you.

Conclusion:
When we take refuge in God’s Word and trust in His covenant, no arrow of the enemy can defeat us. Let faith be your shield and truth your buckler.

Key Takeaways:

  • The enemy targets areas in your life where your mind is not yet renewed by God’s Word.

  • The shield represents God’s overall protection; the buckler is your active, personal use of Scripture.

  • Faith is your defense against all spiritual attacks—believe and stand firm.

  • The enemy uses people and situations to fire arrows of offense, fear, or discouragement.

  • God’s covenant promises you protection and victory through His Word.

  • You must actively engage the Word of God daily to guard against the enemy’s schemes.

Circumstances, Trials & Tests (Part 11)

Circumstances, Trials & Tests (Part 9)

Chapter 9: God’s Shelter in the Storm
Subtitle: Why the Enemy Targets Your Focus

Every day is a gift, and when you’re awake and able to praise God, it’s an opportunity to glorify Him. The enemy works hard to shift your focus toward fear, but God offers shelter, strength, and steadfast protection in every trial.

Father, I ask Your forgiveness as I come before You. I dedicate my voice to glorify Your name. Let every word edify and encourage believers today. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Let’s continue with this vital question: Why does the enemy want you so focused on your circumstances, trials, and tests? One key reason is that fear neutralizes faith. The enemy knows that if you’re walking in fear, you cannot walk in faith.

Consider the animal kingdom—like lions on the hunt. They scatter a herd, isolate one animal, and then attack. The enemy uses the same strategy. He aims to isolate you from God’s presence so you become vulnerable. But that’s exactly why Psalm 91 exists—to show us how to dwell in divine protection.

Psalm 91:1 (KJV) says,

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”

The secret place is a place of intimacy with God—a refuge of peace, clarity, and rest. It’s where:

  • You hear God’s voice.

  • You experience His love.

  • You find protection from life’s storms.

  • You gain an eternal perspective.

  • You see your sins as God sees them.

The enemy knows that if he keeps you focused on problems, you’ll miss the benefits of God’s covering. Let’s explore how to access this secret place.

How to Enter the Secret Place:

  • Surrender to the Holy Spirit and the will of God.

  • Live a lifestyle of spiritual devotion—pray morning, night, and throughout the day.

  • Spend time alone with God in stillness and communication.

  • Seek God’s face, not just His hand.

Psalm 91:2 (KJV) continues:

“I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust.”

Let’s break this down.
A refuge is a condition of being safe from danger or trouble.
A shelter is protection from unpleasant realities.
A fortress is a military stronghold—secure, fortified, and built for defense.

These words describe not just concepts but spiritual realities. God offers:

  • Safety in a world of chaos.

  • Shelter when the storms rage.

  • Fortification when under attack.

The word stronghold means a place fortified to protect against attack. It’s where beliefs are defended and upheld. A garrison refers to troops stationed to defend a location—God has positioned heavenly forces to defend you!

This is why the enemy wants to keep your eyes on your trials. If he succeeds, you forfeit all this divine protection.

Psalm 91:3 (KJV) says:

“Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.”

  • The snare of the fowler symbolizes hidden traps designed by the enemy—deceptive, subtle, and dangerous.

  • The noisome pestilence refers to deadly disease, often interpreted in Scripture as a consequence of disobedience or judgment. “Noisome” means harmful or evil; “pestilence” points to sudden fatal epidemics.

Yet the verse begins with “Surely He shall deliver thee”—a promise of God’s faithfulness.

Psalm 91:4 (KJV) says:

“He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler.”

This is a powerful picture of divine care.

  • Feathers and wings represent God’s nurturing and protective nature—like a mother bird guarding her young.

  • They symbolize comfort, trust, and God’s nearness.

  • Shield and buckler refer to God’s truth as a defense in spiritual battle.

A shield was a large protective weapon, deflecting arrows and spears—symbolizing God’s covering from external attacks.
A buckler was a smaller, more mobile shield—used in close combat. This suggests that God’s truth protects us in every type of warfare: long-range attacks and personal struggles.

God has equipped you fully—emotionally, spiritually, and mentally. He has stationed heavenly protection around you like a fortified fortress. The only thing that can pull you away is fear—and that’s what the enemy uses to keep you away from God’s best.

Conclusion:
Stay close to God in every storm. The secret place is your refuge. Fear isolates, but faith brings protection. Trust in His Word, and let His truth be your shield.

Key Takeaways:

  • The enemy uses fear to isolate you from God and weaken your faith.

  • The “secret place” is where you encounter God’s protection, peace, and presence.

  • You access this place through surrender, prayer, and daily devotion.

  • God is your refuge, shelter, and fortress—stronger than any attack.

  • His feathers symbolize care; His truth is your ultimate defense.

  • Focus on faith, not fear, to unlock the fullness of Psalm 91’s promises.
